the national - gospel

I got two armfuls of magazines for you
I’ll bring em over
so hang your holiday rainbow lights in the garden
hang your holiday rainbow lights in the garden and I’ll
I’ll bring a nice icy drink to you

Let me come over I can waist your time I’m bored
Invite me to the war every night of the summer
and we’ll play G.I. blood, G.I. blood
we’ll stand by the pool
we’ll throw out our golden arms

Darling can you tie my string
killers are calling on me
my angel face is falling
feathers are fallin on my feet
Darling can you tie my string
killers are calling on me

No man's land (2001)

Director & Writer: Daris Tanovic

Plot: After various skirmishes, two wounded soldiers, one Bosnian and one Serb, confront each other in a trench in the no man's land between their lines. They wait for dark, trading insults and even finding some common ground; sometimes one has the gun, sometimes the other, sometimes both. Things get complicated when another wounded Bosnian comes to, but can't move because a bouncing mine is beneath him. The two men cooperate to wave white flags, their lines call the UN (whose high command tries not to help), an English reporter shows up, a French sergeant shows courage, and the three men in no man's land may or may not find a way to all get along.

tunng - bricks

The bicycles inside your skull

Send you away and off you go

Into the streets where all the pretty girls collect their thoughts for you

And pin them up, to clouds and trees, and aggrovate your paranoid
And shivering fears, and rolling a aches, can you not see a star out there

Where all the bricks are bright and free

Where all the bricks are bright and elegant and free

The lizard skins around yourself

Drop off and let the others through

In reds and whites and blacks and blues

Each facet shines or breaks anew

And in a big tall building she lets out her hair into the street

Where cars and trucks career through it

Until the ends get wrecked and split

Where all the doors are bright and free

Where all the doors are bright and elegant and free

The sun revolves around the sun

And then around a bright black moon

And in a café by the sea you stir your tea and suck your spoon

And when your breakfast comes you're miles away

And all your eggs get cold

You're where the light is blinding bright

And all the windows tilt to you

Where all the bricks are bright and free...
