"earl grey" FEBRUARY playlist

1. Aaron Schroeder - What we don't know
2. Chris Walla - Geometry & C
3. Imperial Teen - Shim sham
4. Los Planetas - Reunión en la cumbre
5. Sambassadeur - Subtle changes
6. Spoon - Anything you want
7. Tegan & Sara - Nineteen
8. The Avett Brothers - Will you return?
9. The National - Slipping husband
10. Two Hours Traffic - Jezebel

Just on time! I almost forgot about this month's playlist and had to rush it last minute before the month ends (thank you, leap year, for giving me an extra day!). So I guess here it is. Pretty eclectic, but still decent in my opinion. I just started skipping songs on my iPod (shuffle mode on) until I got ten that I felt like putting on a playlist. A lot of work you'd say, eh? Indeed! Anyway, I promise some more dedication on the next one. You can write it down! Enjoy for now.

CROSS-POLLINATION: THE MIXTAPE Vol. 1

Mixtape Vol. 1 was compiled to celebrate Cross-Pollination, a weekly concert series that brings together some of the most incredibly, and at times, undiscovered raw talent from across the country. Giving musicians the opportunity to stretch creatively with other like-minds, the premise of Cross-Pollination is simple. Every Tuesday evening at Pianos (158 Ludlow Street, NYC) two artists are invited to play together. Both of them play a solo 40-minute set followed by a 3 song pre-rehearsed collaborative set. Now in its third year, Cross-Pollination has brought together nearly 250 acts via 136 shows.

loveninjas - she broke his penis in two

He was the kind of a guy who beat up all the girls who
made love and force 'em to work when they bleed
And he raped and he murdered without thinking twice
But she made him pay for his deeds

Well you can say that the streets of New York are
as hard as it gets but baby this city is worse
You gotta be nice to the girls in the park
Or something comes off in the dark

She broke his penis in two
and he'll never forget what she said
Don't force me again to give head!

No, no no! (She broke it, she cut it she sliced it!)
No, no no! She broke it, she cut it she sliced it!
She fried it, she cooked it and diced it!

We never say bad things about anything or anyone, but this time we gotta say: "Don't fly with Easyjet, they broke David's guitar on our way here"

Setlist:

Run off the road
Photo booth
*new song*
Jordanna
*new song*
Lost and found
Day at the beach
*new song*
Instead
*new song*
Eastbound
*new song* (in the OST from the film "George Washington")
Cindy

Despite being only two of the five original band members, Ola Podrida managed to put a cozy, intimate show at la [2] the other day. The five new songs they introduced to the audience (no more than 80 people, approximately) sounded very promising and the guys were really nice all the time, trying to speak some words in Spanish (David's sucked, truth be told). Really nice evening overall, even though they only played for about 75 minutes and didn't perform "The new science", "Clouded view" and the beautiful "Pour me another" (since they weren't brining a keyboard). They might be back with the full band around November and probably at Tanned Tin festival. Make sure to check them out!

the format, R.I.P.

IMPORTANT

We have just put out word that we will not be making a new Format album. Please understand this was a tough decision and we're both upset about it. While we accept there will be false speculation as to why, understand that Sam and I remain extremely close and in fact are still passing the twin peaks box set back and forth in an attempt to figure out who REALLY killed Laura Palmer. We also want to thank everyone with and within the Format,
particularly Mike, Don, and Marko, whom without, none of this would have
ever even been fully realized. We both suggest you support their musical
talents and whatever they decide to do. And lastly we want to thank the
fans who made this the best 5 years of our lives.
