a scoop of EGWM: noah and the whale

noah and the whale

I don't know a lot of things about this band... I was looking the line-up of the last SXSW in Austin and I saw them but I didn't waste my time listening their myspace... A few weeks ago, I was looking the line-up of Lollapalooza 2008 and I found them again... then I thought: I have to listen at least some songs... I think I started listening Five Years Time and wow! they are so good! My body was moving and I had an smile on my face while i was listening the song... And I want to share my happiness listening this great band posting the first and only EP and 1 video (they have 3) that they made with Blogotheque. Enjoy and as I always say, if you don't like the band drink an earlgreywithmilk.

Finally we have the new album of this swedish pop band. They signed up with a spanish label called Elefant Records and this is the first album with them. I really like the single, way better now, and also, the difference between the first album and this one is the voice of the girl. She has a beautiful voice! Just enjoy.

a scoop of EGWM: new faces

New Faces

New Faces is a band from Port Townsend, WA. They only have a EP out (New Faces Ep 2007) and some songs but I think they are really good! Probably some of you will say that you have listening a loooot of bands like New Faces but what the fuck! If you like what they are playing doesn't matter if they are doing the same as (put a name of a band). Everytime that I listen New Faces I HAVE to sing, move or do something. Just give a try to this band that I found listening KEXP (Radio station from Seattle, WA). They are recording their first LP, as soon as I have it I'll share it with you. :)

1. Ms Kiss kiss bang bang (from New Faces EP)
2. She's like the snow (from New Faces EP)
3. My alarm (from New Faces EP)

a scoop of EGWM: Kevin Devine

Kevin Devine is an American songwriter and musician from Brooklyn, New York, who is known for alternately introspective and political lyrics and melodic acoustic guitar tunes. He cites his influences as Bob Dylan, Brother Paramo and Nirvana, among others. He grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island, and has spent significant time in Manhattan and Queens as well. Devine cites this well-roundedness as the primary reason why at almost any given time he can determine his own location within one of the five boroughs without a problem. (from wikipedia)

And, just like every great pop band over the years, Speedmarket Avenue (new song in myspace) felt complete right from the start. Sensitivity, melodies and playing skills; they had it all. In abundance. Those of us who got to meet the band in every possible (and impossible) concert venue could but salute their well-crafted pop songs and their obvious joy at having the opportunity of performing them for us there and then. The often difficult transition from stage and fleeting moments to studio and recordings has been achieved with the able help of producer Fredrik Norberg and "I Am Going To Let My New Swiss Army Knife Answer To That" is the sound of a band who knows what they're doing. And are pleased to share it with anyone who cares to listen. (from Hello Surprise)

a scoop of EGWM: Right away, great Captain! - The Bitter End

darling you have yet to hold me close
during the war, with your heart
i can see strait down your crooked teeth
you feel so dumb, mouth open large
you've got exactly what I'm drinking for

darling you can bet to see my ghost
up on the wall watching you eat
yeah its true i dream about you two
grinding my mouth losing my teeth
you are exactly what a night-mares for.
i'll night marry you.

download the song (thanks to Come Pick me up)
download the LP "The bitter end"

Right Away, Great Captain!
is Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra) side project. The first cd is a "must listen" lo-fi album when you just woke up or you go to sleep. And he is preparing a new album... Yayy!
