Finally we have the new album of this swedish pop band. They signed up with a spanish label called Elefant Records and this is the first album with them. I really like the single, way better now, and also, the difference between the first album and this one is the voice of the girl. She has a beautiful voice! Just enjoy.

a scoop of EGWM: new faces

New Faces

New Faces is a band from Port Townsend, WA. They only have a EP out (New Faces Ep 2007) and some songs but I think they are really good! Probably some of you will say that you have listening a loooot of bands like New Faces but what the fuck! If you like what they are playing doesn't matter if they are doing the same as (put a name of a band). Everytime that I listen New Faces I HAVE to sing, move or do something. Just give a try to this band that I found listening KEXP (Radio station from Seattle, WA). They are recording their first LP, as soon as I have it I'll share it with you. :)

1. Ms Kiss kiss bang bang (from New Faces EP)
2. She's like the snow (from New Faces EP)
3. My alarm (from New Faces EP)

4. The end of a time (unknown)
5. Across the city (unknown)
6. Cracks (unknown)
7. You to me (unknown)

2. Her Space Holiday - Forever and a day
3. Fleet Foxes - He doesn't know why
4. Wakey!Wakey! - Fallin' apart (live)
5. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - Lighthouse keeper
6. The Mountain Goats - San bernardino
7. Frightened Rabbit - Keep yourself warm
8. Chris Bathgate - The last parade on Ann st.
9. Elliott Smith - Angeles
10. Cranes & Crowes - Ruins

New month, new playlist, but this one will be a little bit different: there are no fast songs. Why? Because this April was not fast, just the contrary: slow. As you will see some songs are instrumental, some songs have only a guitar (or a piano) and a man singing and the other ones have some parts instrumentals and some parts with voice... A few months ago I was not a huge fan of the songs without lyrics but after april I can say that I love SOME of them: just try to listen it when you are walking in a full moon night and there is no one in the street. Unbelievable.

(NOTE: don't do it if you have any personal problem)

*soon, "earl grey" APRIL playlist. :)

Hello again! I know... it's been a long time before the last update but we were so busy that we didn't have time to make new posts.... We are sorry.
I thought the best way to start again is with this live: Kevin Devine, Jesse Lacey (from Brand New) and Andy Hull (from Manchester Orchestra) playing an acoustic show in a record shop at West Babylon, NY a few days ago. Enjoy!

Someone still loves you, Boris Yeltsin

I know EGWM readers... I'm always talking about SSLYBY... but come on! They are so great! The first album, Broom, was so good with such a great songs like oregon girl, pangea, i am warm + powerful, ... And the last album is much better than the first one: have u ever listen think i wanna die or the beach song or bouring fountain... buuf! so great! Finally I decided to buy the album and have it, not only in the computer. And the package was so good: a poster, a badge, the cd, a sticker and the best thing: 3 exclusive songs! (also a candy: airheads rocks!). I think is worth it, and I just spent 14 €! If you want to buy it: polyvinyl records
Enjoy this exclusive songs.

Bonus songs from Pershing:

1. The Beach Song (Willington demo)
2. I didn't mean it
3. Stain (Nirvana cover)

6. La tarda esclata
7. L'estrany
8. Aguéev (*)
9. La forma d'un sentit
10. Em deuria enamorar
11.
No et fas el llit
12. Miquel a l'accés 14
13. Every second
14. Qui n'ha begut
15. Sant Pere

(I would like to apologize myself because I wrote this review in Catalan... sorry)

"Sentí que la sangre comenzaba a circularme más de prisa. Cogí su bonita y rasurada cabeza entre mis manos y busqué sus labios con audacia" Boris Vian - El peligro de los clásicos

No, I'm not Ben Gibbard nor this is some April Fool's joke, it's just the guy (along with his 5 member band, which included his brother Amaro) seriously played almost his entire discography (30 out of 33 songs including his last two albums in its entirety) yesterday night on a sold-out show at Sala Bikini, which, once again, proved to be Barcelona's best venue. A mammoth, two hour-long set (something you don't see much nowadays) of close-to-perfection sound, excellent music and a great atmosphere which didn't disappoint a single soul in the room. There was time for everything, including a couple of songs Iván played solo in his piano, a song sung by his brother Amaro and even a Piratas' song ("El equilibrio es imposible" was the unanimous choice over "Tiovivo" and "Inerte") which drove the audience crazy. Overall, a great night only tarmished by the fact that the venue was a bit too packed and that some people should never be allowed on events like this (didn't anyone tell them that you cannot pretend to move forward when there's no room at all or that you cannot smoke when it's forbidden to? Geez!). Anyway, props to Iván and his band, and for the ones that missed this one, do not worry. He's back on October 24th @ Sala Razzmatazz. It probably won't be as good or as exclusive as yesterday but hey, at least he will be back. Go get your tickets!!

* Iván Ferreiro performing "El equilibro es imposible" @ Sala Bikini (too bad some people confuse yelling with singing)

foo fighters - keep the car running (arcade fire cover live @ bbc radio 1)

JW: So don't tell us what it's gonna be but tell us why you've chosen this song that you're gonna do.

DG: Well, I chose this song because I listen to it every morning when I wake up and I figured that would be a great way to... a great song to do here because I'm still waking up and I figured I can't wake up until I listen to this song so I might as well just play it.

JW: You should play it then.

DG: Ready?

JW: Yeah.

NEW SONG: speedmarket avenue - way better now

shout out louds live @ razz 3, bcn (03/04/08)

"this guy behind the black pole is Ted, our bass player"

Setlist:

1. Intro (Ill wills)
2. South America
3. Very loud
4. Normandie
5. Your parents living room
6. The comeback*
7. Impossible
8. There is nothing
9. Shut your eyes
10. Seagull
11. Meat is murder
12. You are dreaming
13. Tonight I have to leave it
-----------------------
14. Please, please, please
15. Hard rain

Axa FCB's crucial game against Maccabi Elite Tel-Aviv @ Palau Blaugrana (83-74 for our team) and a really sore throat from one of its members didn't stop the EGWM crew from attending (along with our friend, co-blogger Indiespot) last night's (pricey) gig at one of Barcelona's most inadequate venues. That's it, inadequate, because after doors opening 40 minutes late, realizing that no opening band was going to play and that the almost packed, smoke-free room had a suspicious mist hanging over our heads, not seeing one of the band members because of a black pole right in front of him onstage made us realize that this wasn't the best way to start things off.
As for the performance the Swedish band delivered, it was promising but bumpy. Promising because their two LP's to date are filled with a bunch of nearly-perfect pop songs and their live staging doesn't sell their material short at all. If you add a decent sound for being Razzmatazz and that the guys were nicer than the average Swedish band you get a pretty darn good concert (especially when the room goes crazy during "Tonight I have to leave it", definitely the night's highlight). However, things such as a pretty short set (65 minutes, this is not "Tu vida en...", WTF!) and not playing 100º, one of their best songs, made the whole thing bumpy.
The crowd was surprisingly enthusiastic but not so surprisingly muticultural, with more foreigners than local people (nothing against that, I guess it's just what Barcelona is all about nowadays), all of them represented in the flags decorating the stage (Indiespot dixit). The aftershow, pretty lame, but I guess I was not in the mood for it. My throat hurted and I had missed one of the season's best basketball games. You can't have it all, not even here at EGWM. Meh, bittersweet evening.

*Shout Out Louds performing "The comeback" @ Razz 3
